#ENABLE AIRPRINT ON CANON IR ADV C5235 DRIVER#
If I add the printer locally, by adding a new TCP/IP port at the IP address of the printer, and use the same driver that I put on the server, it works perfectly even with Dept ID/PIN enabled. nothing is greyed out) but it still does not verify the Dept ID/PIN. When I log into the workstation as a domain admin, all the driver options become available again (i.e. I noticed that many of the options in the driver were greyed out on the workstation, so I thought it might have been an account permissions thing. However, it does not appear to have helped in this situation. Apparently this is required for the Dept ID stuff to work.

If Department ID/PIN is enabled, I am forced to enter a dept ID at the workstation and then it fails to verify the ID/PIN and the job is cancelled.Ī Google search led me to install the Canon Driver Information Assist Service on the server.

I can happily print from the server, even with Department ID/PIN enabled, but I can only print from the workstation as long as I have Department ID/PIN disabled in the drivers settings on the server. I have managed to get the printer deployed using Group Policy and it appears on my workstation. I have added the Print Server role to the new server, downloaded the driver and added the printer. The printer is a Canon imageRUNNER Advance C2520. One of the last things that I need to do is move the Head Office copier/printer across the the new server. I am well along the path and getting near to be able to completely decommission the old server. The program I wrote does successfully convert spool files generated by the printer drivers "Canon iR-ADV C5235/5240 PCL5c" and "Canon iR-ADV C5235/5240 PS3" to valid PCL and Postscript respectively, so I don't think it is a simple matter of the program not working.I am migrating from an SBS 2003 server to Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V host with multiple Server 2012 R2 VMs. Unfortunately this still doesn't seem to be a valid PCL file :-( Can anybody tell me what exactly is wrong with this file? Is there any possibility of converting it to valid PCL or otherwise extracting usable data from it? This is the result of running the program on the file 00025.spl from above: I was able to obtain documentation about CPCA by signing up for the Canon Developer Support Program at the following URL:Īfter reading this documentation, I wrote a program to remove CPCA codes from spool files. I tried a similar solution for the files generated by "Canon iR-ADV C5235/5240 PCL6", but unfortunately was not successful.ĮDIT (): It seems that the binary sequences are CPCA codes. After removing these sequences, we were then able to convert the files as normal. There were binary sequences beginning with $CDCA10 and ending with $FFFF000000000000000001 at various positions in the files. Incidentally, we had a similar problem with Postscript files generated by the "Canon iR-ADV C5235/5240 PS3" printer driver. We asked VeryPDF and they told us it is not a valid PCL file.Ĭan anybody tell me what exactly is invalid about this file? Is there any possibility of converting it to valid PCL or otherwise extracting usable data from it? Attempting to open 00025.spl using other PCL viewers gives similar results.

As an example, the following SPL file results from printing out a single page in notepad with the word "something" on it:Ĭonverting 00025.spl using pcltool.exe results in a 70-page PDF with a row of garbage characters at the top of each page. However we are having trouble with SPL files generated by the printer driver "Canon iR-ADV C5235/5240 PCL6". It is said that Canon scanner enables users to dismiss scanning blank pages with the Skip Blank page settings.

Solution 6: Change Canon Scanner Skip Blank Page Settings.

For SPL files in PCL format we perform this conversion using pcltool.exe from VeryPDF, which mostly works fine. Then you can reconnect your Canon scanner to Windows 10 again to see whether or not it starts working now. The program I wrote does successfully convert spool files generated by the printer drivers 'Canon iR-ADV C5235/5240 PCL5c' and 'Canon iR-ADV C5235/5240 PS3' to valid PCL and Postscript respectively, so I dont think it is a simple matter of the program not working. In our software we need to be able to convert SPL files which printer drivers write to the C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS folder to PDF files.
